A big first for us – and for Cardiff

We’ve launched lots of individual locations over the years – but this one’s different. We’re really excited to announce the launch of our first ever cycle parking network, right in the heart of Cardiff.

Thanks to a partnership with Cardiff Council, we’re rolling out a series of Spokesafe lockers across key destinations in the city centre. Whether you're cycling in for a quick coffee on St Mary Street, commuting to the office near Cathays Park, or heading for a Saturday stroll along the river, there’ll now be a secure, bookable spot to leave your bike nearby.

Kicking things off at Cardiff Castle

The first location in the network will go live this August, right next to Cardiff Castle – a landmark spot that’s perfect for both locals and visitors arriving by bike. And this is just the beginning, with more sites coming online across the city soon after.

So, what’s the setup?

This new network will be made up of Spokesafe lockers – sturdy steel units with a beautiful cedar wood overlay, designed to blend into the local streetscape. Even better? Each locker will feature a living roof. It’s a first for us, and something we’ve wanted to do for ages – adding a splash of green while keeping your bike dry and secure.

The lockers will be:

• Open 24/7 – for early rides, late finishes, and everything in between

• Available to book in advance – or instantly, if you're in a rush

• Built for all types of bikes – including standard bikes and e-bikes (cargo bike specific models are on their way)

• Secure and covered – all lockers are lockable and weather-protected

• Backed by 24/7 support – our team is always on hand if you need help

Why it matters

Cycle lanes work best when they’re connected. We think cycle parking should be the same.

This new Cardiff network marks a shift from scattered, isolated parking spots to something more useful and joined-up. By creating an integrated network of lockers across the city, we’re making it easier for people to cycle into town – and know they’ll have a safe, reliable place to leave their bike when they get there.

It’s the kind of infrastructure cities need if we want to see more everyday journeys made by bike. Cardiff is the first UK city to take this step – and we hope it’s the first of many.

2. Find your nearest location in Cardiff

3. Reserve your locker in advance or book on the spot

4. Unlock using your app and get on with your day
